DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 17 (Food and Feed Chemistry) Section cross-reference(s): 10 Inhibitory effects of BHA [25013-16-5], BHT [128-37-0], n-Pr gallate [121-79-9], octyl gallate [1034-01-1], dodecyl gallate [1166-52-5], and rosemary oil on the growth of soybean- infesting bacteria (Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Micrococcus, Salmonella , and Bacillus mycoides), yeasts (Candida utilis, Rhodotorula, C. 128-37-0 and 121-79-9 are cas registry numbers of chemicals which are used as reagents here. tropicalis, and Hansenula anomala), and molds (Paecilomyces varioti, Alternaria , Trichoderma viride, and Aspergillus niger), were studied.. No direct correlation between antioxidant doses (1-10 mg/mL) and organism growth inhibition was obsd. Yeasts were best inhibited by BHA and rosemary oil and molds by BHA and octyl gallate. Bacterial inhibition was species-dependent. B. mycoides Could not be inhibited by any of the antioxidants. .
