Flexible explosive articles
Flexible explosive articles. (Dynamit Nobel A.-G., Ger.). Fr. Demande FR 2316203 28 Jan 1977, 12 pp. (French). (France). CODEN: FRXXBL. CLASS: IC: C06B021-00. PRIORITY: DE 75-2529432 2 Jul 1975. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 50 (Propellants and Explosives) Flexible explosives, which may be prepd. in conventional equipment at relatively low temps. (10-70.degree.) without the use of water or solvents, which are resistant to shock and friction, may be detonated with caps or detonating cord, do not crack over a wide temp. range, have detonation velocities .gtoreq.6000 m/s, cold test temp. .ltoreq.20.degree., and room temp. elongation .gtoreq.200%, are provided by compns. comprising an explosive, e.g., PETN [78-11-5], RDX, HMX, tetryl 60-85, an elastomer having a solidification temp. <-20.degree., e.g., a copolymer of ethylene or propylene with .apprx.45% vinyl acetate, or acrylate esters 15-40.degree., and a plasticizer having volatility >5% at 90.degree. for 100 h, e.g., C4-12 esters with phthalic and adipic acids in a 1:10- ratio with the elastomer. Conventional oxidizers, light metals, etc., may also be present. Thus, a 3 kg batch contg. PETN (100% <0.15 mm) 73, ethylene-vinyl acetate elastomer (Levapren U 50) 18, and bis(2-methoxyethyl) phthalate [117-82-8] 9% was mixed 30 min at .apprx.80.degree. and a portion (R) was rolled into sheets of various thicknesses and the rest (E) was extruded as a continuous 6 mm filament at .apprx.35.degree., d. (R) 1.40 g/cm3; detonation velocity (R) (50 mm wide .times. 2 mm thick strips) 7000 m/s and (E) (confined) 7800 m/s; 5 kg drop hammer impact test, no detonation at <40 cm fall; friction, slight crackle with 36 kg wt.; detonation propagation (E) no. 8 cap; flexure at -32.degree. (R) (180.degree. bend in 0.5-14 s with 1.3-5 mm thick strips), no cracking.
Effects of dimethoxyethyl phthalate, monomethoxyethyl phthalate, 2-methoxyethanol and methoxyacetic acid on postimplantation rat embryos in culture
Effects of dimethoxyethyl phthalate, monomethoxyethyl phthalate, 2-methoxyethanol and methoxyacetic acid on postimplantation rat embryos in culture. Yonemoto, J.; Brown, N. A.; Webb, M. (Toxicol. Unit, MRC Lab., Carshalton/Surrey SM5 4EF, UK). Toxicol. Lett., 21(1), 97-102 (English) 1984. CODEN: TOLED5. ISSN: 0378-4274. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 4 (Toxicology) The secondary metabolite of dimethoxyethyl phthalate (DMEP)(I) [117-82-8], methoxyacetic acid (MAA) [625-45-6], but neither the diester nor either of its primary metabolites, monomethoxyethyl phthalate (MMEP) [16501-01-2] and 2-methoxyethanol (ME) [109-86-4], interferes with normal growth and development of organogenesis phase rat embryos in culture. These in vitro observations suggest that the teratogenicity of DMEP in vivo is due to enzymic cleavage of the diester to ME, followed by oxidn. of the latter to MAA in the maternal compartment.
