APPLICATION: DE 82-3238514 18 Oct 1982. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 62 (Essential Oils and Cosmetics) Sunscreens contain an oil-sol. UV absorber in a hydrophobic oil and a H2O-sol. UV absorber in an alc. and 310% of an aq. component contg. a polyhydric or monohydric alc. The sunscreens provide high sun protection factors without feeling sticky on the skin. The components are packaged in a container that allows mixing before application to the skin. A prepn. that had a refreshing feel on the skin contained equal parts by wt. of a soln. of 3,3,5-trimethylcyclohexyl salicylate [118-56-9] 10, isoamyl p-methoxycinnamate [71617-10-2] 10, ethylhexyl p-methoxycinnamate [5466-77-3] 10, 2-ethylhexyl p-dimethylaminobenzoate [21245-02-3] 8, in iso-PrOH 12% and a soln. of ethoxylated p-methoxybenzoate ester 10, 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone-5-sulfonic acid [4065-45-6] 5, iso-PrOH 15, and H2O 20%.

- Influence of sunscreening agents on color stability of tablets coated with certified dyes. III: FD & C Yellow No. 6. Hajratwala, B. R.; Hennig, A. J. (Sch. Pharm., Univ. Colorado, Boulder, Colo., USA). J. Pharm. Sci., 66(1), 107-9 (English) 1977. CODEN: JPMSAE. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) The influence of a protective coating of 6 sunscreening agents (glyceryl p-aminobenzoate [136-44-7], benzocaine [94-09-7], cinoxate [104-28-9], homosalate [118-56-9], n-octyl salicylate [6969-49-9], and amyl salicylate [2050-08-0]) upon the photostability of FD&C Yellow No. 6 (I) [2783-94-0] used to color coat tablets was studied. The alcohol film-, modified sugar-, and film-coating methods were used to apply the sunscreening agents. Tablets were exposed to 1000 foot-candles of light for various times, after which reflectance measurements and visual observations were recorded. I did not follow the Kubelka-Munk equation. 2650-18-2 and 2050-08-0 which are cas registry numbers of substances are two of reagents here. The order of relative stability was I > erythrosine sodium (FD&C Red No. 3) [16423-68-0] > FD&C Blue No. 1 [2650-18-2]. The greatest protection against fading was afforded by benzocaine. .
