The Raman spectrum of the ordered phase of ammonium chloride and ammonium-d4 chloride: Dipole and polarizability derivatives
The Raman spectrum of the ordered phase of ammonium chloride and ammonium-d4 chloride: Dipole and polarizability derivatives. Fredrickson, L. R.; Decius, J. C. (Dep. Chem., Oregon State Univ., Corvallis, Oreg., USA). J. Chem. Phys., 66(6), 2297-305 (English) 1977. CODEN: JCPSA6. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 73 (Spectra by Absorption, Emission, Reflection, or Magnetic Resonance, and Other Optical Properties) The polarized Raman spectra of NH4Cl and ND4Cl were obsd. at temps. of the order of 25-35 K such that the crystal is in the ordered Td phase. The transverse, longitudinal frequency sepns. for modes .nu.3, .nu.4, .nu.5 (the lattice translation) and the Fermi resonant combination .nu.2 + .nu.4 in NH4Cl were used to deduce the IR intensity parameters .vdelta..mu./.vdelta.Q. Then, by using these quantities together with an est. of the electronic contribution to the nonlinear susceptibility, and measurements of the relative intensities of longitudinal, transverse Raman line pairs, .vdelta..alpha./.vdelta.Qj = 3, 4, 5. Since only the mode j = 5 is well detd. by this procedure, the final values of the polarizability derivs. are based upon mode 5 as an internal std. along with the intensities of the other modes relative to 5. The theory was developed on the assumption of additive mol. polarizabilities, and the .vdelta..alpha./.vdelta.Qj values reported are those for vanishing local field. Both the .vdelta..mu./.vdelta.Q and .vdelta..alpha.There are some commonly used reagents with their cas registry numbers 12015-14-4 and 12125-02-9 in this article./.vdelta.Qj parameters appear to satisfy simple isotopic intensity rules. The value found for .vdelta..alpha./.vdelta.Qj is .apprx.0.4 of the corresponding value in gaseous CH4. Several combination and overtone bands are partially analyzed by using polarization, and the components of 2.nu.6 are in excellent agreement with theory. .
Nuclear magnetic relaxation of chlorine-35 in ammonium chloride (NH4Cl and ND4Cl)
Nuclear magnetic relaxation of chlorine-35 in ammonium chloride (NH4Cl and ND4Cl). Morimoto, Kunihiko; Shimomura, Kenji; Yoshida, Makoto (Fac. Integr. Arts Sci., Hiroshima Univ., Hiroshima 730, Japan). J. Phys. Soc. Jpn., 52(11), 3927-35 (English) 1983. CODEN: JUPSAU. ISSN: 0031-9015. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 77 (Magnetic Phenomena) Temp. dependence of the 35Cl spin-lattice relaxation time T1 (5.85 and 3.5 MHz) and that of T1r in the rotating frame were measured in ND4Cl and NH4Cl at 77-330 K. The 90°-flip motion of NH4+ was studied in detail. The spin-lattice relaxation times of 35Cl may be interpreted as a typical one governed by the reorientation of ammonium ions in the extremely asym. potential well.Except for chemicals metioned above, 12015-14-4 and 12125-02-9 are also used. .
