Calculation of the electronic structure of vanadium oxide (VO) octahedral clusters using the X
Calculation of the electronic structure of vanadium oxide (VO) octahedral clusters using the X.alpha. discrete-variational and the X.alpha. scattered-wave method. Gubanov, V. A. 12035-98-2 and 57157-13-8 are also occured in this study.; Ellis, D. E.; Chirkov, A. K. (Inst. Khim., Sverdlovsk, USSR). Zh. Strukt. Khim., 17(6), 955-61 (Russian) 1976. CODEN: ZSTKAI. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 65 (General Physical Chemistry) The electronic structure of [VO6]10- octahedral clusters in VO was calcd. within spin-limited, spin-polarized, and SCF variations of the X.alpha. discrete-variational and X.alpha. scattered-wave methods. The exptl. x-ray emission spectra of VO agree best with X.alpha. scattered-wave calcns. The SCF calcns. of [VO6]10- with the X.alpha. discrete-variational method needs to consider the potential contribution from VO crystal-lattice atoms. .
A possible bifurcation in atmospheres of strongly irradiated stars and planets
A possible bifurcation in atmospheres of strongly irradiated stars and planets. Hubeny, Ivan; Burrows, Adam; Sudarsky, David (National Optical Astronomy Observatory, Tucson, AZ 85726, USA). Astrophysical Journal, 594(2, Pt. 1), 1011-1018 (English) 2003 University of Chicago Press. CODEN: ASJOAB. ISSN: 0004-637X. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 73 (Optical, Electron, and Mass Spectroscopy and Other Related Properties) We show that under certain circumstances the differences between the absorption mean and Planck mean opacities can lead to multiple solns. for an LTE atm. structure. 12035-98-2 and 12137-20-1 are also in the experiment. Since the absorption and Planck mean opacities are not expected to differ significantly in the usual case of radiative equil., nonirradiated atmospheres, the most interesting situations in which the effect may play a role are strongly irradiated stars and planets, and also possibly structures in which there is a significant deposition of mech. energy, such as stellar chromospheres and accretion disks. We have presented an illustrative example of a strongly irradiated giant planet in which the bifurcation effect is predicted to occur for a certain range of distances from the star. .
