- Boride coated titanium - a tough material resistant against corrosion by liquid aluminum. Kornmann, M.; Funk, R. (Battelle Res. Lab., Geneva, Switz.). Aluminium (Duesseldorf), 53(4), 249-52 (English) 1977. CODEN: ALUMAB. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 56 (Nonferrous Metals and Alloys) The 99.4% Ti and TA8DV [11109-17-4] Ti alloy were boronized by pack cementation to obtain a tough TiB2 [12045-63-5] layer which was resistant to thermal shock and corrosion by liq. Al and Al alloys. The boronized specimens had higher corrosion resistance than cast iron. However, some pitting occurred.
- Effect of the adsorption factor on the dispersing ability of poly(methyl methacrylate)
- Effect of the adsorption factor on the dispersing ability of poly(methyl methacrylate). Gorokhovskii, G. A.; Samsonov, G. V.; Gorshunov, V. P. (Inst. Khim. Vysokomol. Soedin., Kiev, USSR). Fiz.-Khim. Mekh. Mater., 13(1), 89-92 (Russian) 1977. CODEN: FKMMAJ. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 37 (Plastics Fabrication and Uses) The dispersing ability of polymer-abrasive compns. is detd. by the cutting capacity of the abrasive and the dispersibily of the polymer binder as well as the adsorption of the binder on the abrasive particles. The adsorption factor ensures transport of the active medium to the zone of dynamic contact. The investigation was conducted using WC [12070-12-1], W2B5 [12007-98-6], TiB2 [12045-63-5], and Al2O3 as abrasives and poly(Me methacrylate) [9011-14-7] as binder. The dispersing ability of the compn. was detd. by the wear of a steel sample during rubbing friction at 1 kg/cm2 pressure. The relation between the dispersing ability of the compn. and the adsorption factor depended on the nature of the abrasive.
