The PACVD process was applied to get e.g. TiN or Zr(C,N) hard coatings on steel or AlMgSi1 substrate, resp., using halogenated precursors TiCl4 at min. temp. of 450° or organometallic precursor Zr(NEt2)4 at 120°. The coating hardness is dependent of Cl and C content in the layer. Austenitic steel (X 2CrNi 18 9) was plasma nitrided. The duplex process, a mixt. of the latter and PACVD methods was also described and applied to TiAl6V4 and TiAl5Fe2.5. The surface hardness and wear resistance were noticeably improved by the thermochem. treatment, keeping the corrosion resistance fixed, or even improved.Except for chemicals metioned above, 12053-27-9 and 24094-93-7 are also used. .
