DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 42 (Coatings, Inks, and Related Products) The title inks are prepd. by dissolving (A) gold and silver pigments, the surfaces of which are treated so as to repel other colorants, and (B) light-resistant clear org. pigments or oil-sol. dyes in org. solvents. The inks form a printed image with a clear edge bordering the part colored with chromatic colorant contg. the metallic pigment. Thus, Silver 900 SAS 100 parts was dispersed in a mixt. of dimethylpolysiloxane TSR 144, 1.5, diethylaminoethanol dispersant 0.5, and MeCCl3 98-100 parts at approx. 45° for 1-1.5 h with a homomixer, filtered, and air-dried to give a surface-treated pigment, 25 parts of which was dispersed for approx. 1 h with a homomixer in 50 parts 50% xylene soln. of coumarone and 1 part Homogenol/M-8 dispersant, mixed with a ~50° soln. of Neozapon Red BE [12227-55-3] (oil-sol. dye) 6, EtCOMe 10, DOP and BuOAc 5-6 parts, stirred uniformly for 30 min, and filtered to obtain a ink, providing red edged markings.
