Thus, a mixt. of di-Me terephthalate 1000, ethylene glycol (II) 501.3, Ca(OAc)2 1, Sb2O3 0.5, and monochlorinated phthalocyanine blue (III) [12239-87-1] 15.3 parts (a slurry of 15.3 parts III and 137.7 parts II was used) was transesterified 5 h at 140-220.degree., mixed with a slurry of 15.3 parts carbon black in 61.2 parts II, and heated 3 h at 140-220.degree./0.3 mm to give a black polyester with intrinsic viscosity 0.66 (o-ClC6H4OH, 25.degree.). The polyester was spun into bluish black fibers compared with reddish black fibers for a control with 0.4% I under the same conditions.
