Growth during the following 3 days was slightly suppressed by dehydroepiandrosterone (I) [53-43-0], 2-hydroxyestriol (II) [1232-80-0], or deoxyestrone (III) [53-45-2]. 57-83-0 and 50-22-6 are cas registry numbers of chemicals which are used as reagents here. The increase in thymus wt. was retarded by administration of testosterone [58-22-0], estradiol [50-28-2], estrone [53-16-7], estriol (IV) [50-27-1], 2-hydroxyestriol, 2-hydroxyestradiol [362-05-0], and I. Development of spleen was not influenced by the steroids testeed. The increment in adrenal gland wt. was delayed by I or progesterone [57-83-0], and accelerated by IV or diethylstilbestrol [56-53-1]. The adrenal content of corticosterone (V) [50-22-6] was increased markedly by IV, but decreased by cortisol [50-23-7] and this latter effect was prevented by simultaneous administration of IV. .

Of the tested compds., 2-hydroxyestradiol or 2-hydroxyestrone had more potent activity than that of tocopherol. .
