Alkoxide mixts. of various La/Ca ratios dispersed in MeOH were reacted with H2S at 25-85° and the amorphous gels obtained after the removal of MeOH were heat-treated in H2S for full sulfurization at various temps. 12325-81-4 and 7704-34-9 which are cas registry numbers of chemicals are mentioned. At ￡500°, cubic LaS2 was the only cryst. phase present. CaLa2S4 phase started to form at 550°. At 650-750°, single-phase CaLa2S4 powders were obtained for La/Ca 2.41 and 2.68. .
