Experimental detection of the H2NO3 radical
Experimental detection of the H2NO3 radical. Cacace, Fulvio; de Petris, Giulia; Troiani, Anna (Dipartimento di Studi di Chimica e Tecnologia delle Sostanze Biologicamente Attive, Universita di Roma "La Sapienza", Rome 00185, Italy). ChemPhysChem, 4(10), 1128-1131 (English) 2003 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA. CODEN: CPCHFT. ISSN: 1439-4235. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 73 (Optical, Electron, and Mass Spectroscopy and Other Related Properties) Section cross-reference(s): 79 The detection and structural characterization of the H2NO3 radical using neutralization-reionization (NR) mass spectrometry was discussed. The NR expts. performed to ascertain the existence of H2NO3 were based on the sequence of two collisional, vertical processes occurring in two sep. gas cells located 10 cm apart along the beam path. A fraction of the mass-selected H2NO3+ ions (m/z = 64), which enters the first cell contg. CH4 as the stationary collider, undergone neutralization accompanied by dissocn. Detection of a "recovery" peak of m/z = 64 demonstrated that neutral H2NO3 was formed from this process and reached the ionization cell, which, under the described exptl. conditions, sets a lower limit of about 1 ms for the lifetime of the neutral species. The geometrical features of the neutral H2NO3 were expected to be closely similar to the structure of its parent cation,2NO+, which is planar, with a short N-O bond(1) (1.15 to 1.21?), longer N-O(2) bonds (1. There are some commonly used reagents like 12507-77-6 in this article.28 to 1.31?), an H-O(2) sepn. of 0.96 to 0.99?, an O(2)-N-O(2) angle of 125 to 126° and H-O(2)-N angles of 106 to 109°. .
