DOCUMENT TYPE: Conference CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) Roseofungin (I) [12687-98-8] (2-32 mg/kg) injected i.v. into cats increased arterial pressure for 10-30 min and decreased respiration rate; it did not affect the electrocardiogram. In dogs I at 5-10 mg/kg increased arterial pressure and decreased respiration rate but also caused tachycardia. The hypertensive effect of I was not owing to an effect on the sympathetic nervous system.

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) The anti-influenza activity of roseofungin [12687-98-8], a polyenic macrolide antibiotic, was studied in vitro on surviving fragments of chick embryo chorionallantoic membranes and in ovo on growing chick embryos. The antibiotic activity against influenza A and B viruses was high. The activity of roseofungin against influenza A virus did not differ from that of remantadine, the most active inhibitor of influenza virus reprodn. However, the activity of roseofungin against influenza B virus was an advantage of this antibiotic over remantadine, which had practically no effect on this virus type. A statistically significant protective effect of roseofungin was shown on animals with exptl. influenza. The study on the antiviral activity of roseofungin against the DNA-contg. variolovaccine virus revealed that it markedly inhibited virus. Roseofungin had a pronounced inhibitory effect on cell neoplastic transformation induced by the RNA contg. oncogenic virus of Rous sarcoma.
