CODEN: PLMEAA. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 64 (Pharmaceutical Analysis) A simple and easy method for the detn. of sennoside A [81-27-6] and B [128-57-4] in senna powder is developed. The method depends upon reducing the glycosides into 1,8-dihydroxy-3-carboxylic acid anthranol using sodium dithionite in 0.05M borax soln. The yellow color produced is measured at 390 nm. The results obtained are in good agreement with the sodium hydroxide-hydrogen peroxide color reaction.
