Arsenic pentoxide (CAS NO.1303-28-2) is used to arsenate preparation, dye and printing industries, etc., and can be used as insecticides.
Arsenic pentoxide decomposes to oxygen and As2O3 upon heating forming arsenic trioxide. It is an oxidizing agent, liable to react vigorously with oxidizable substances — for example, it liberates chlorine from hydrochloric acid.
As2O5 dissolves readily in water to form arsenic acid, H3AsO4.

Reported in EPA TSCA Inventory. Arsenic and its compounds are on the Community Right-To-Know List. EPA Extremely Hazardous Substances List.
Confirmed human carcinogen. Poison by ingestion and intravenous routes. Experimental reproductive effects. Mutation data reported. Reacts vigorously with Rb2C2. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of arsenic. See also ARSENIC COMPOUNDS.
