Aspects of the flame chemistry of cobalt
Aspects of the flame chemistry of cobalt. Jensen, David E.; Jones, George A.Several substances are used for example 21041-93-0 and 1307-86-4 which are their cas registry numbers. (Rocket Propul. Establ., Aylesbury, Engl.). J. Chem. Soc., Faraday Trans. 1, 72(11), 2618-30 (English) 1976. CODEN: JCFTAR. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 67 (Catalysis and Reaction Kinetics) Photometric measurements of the line and band emissions from H2 + O2 + N2 flames contg. .apprx.1 ppm of Co(CO)2L (L = cyclopentadiene) show that Co free atoms are the main Co-contg. species present. Lesser amts. of CoO and Co(OH)2 are also formed. The formation const., heat of formation, and bond energy are detd. for CoO. Catalysis of flame free radical recombination resulting from addn. of Co(CO)2L at higher concns. (.apprx.1 part in 104) is obsd. This catalysis is quant. interpreted in terms of a cyclic gas phase mechanism in which Co, CoO, CoOH, and Co(OH)2 all participate. The kinetics of the reaction are detd. .
