CLASS: IC: C09K003-28; C09D001-04; C09D005-18; C09J001-02; B05D005-10. APPLICATION: DE 83-3326738 25 Jul 1983. PRIORITY: US 83-476714 18 Mar 1983; US 83-508607 28 Jun 1983. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 58 (Cement, Concrete, and Related Building Materials) A liq. fire-retardant adhesive compn. esp. for coating fibers for thermal insulation comprises an aq. emulsion with alkali metal silicates, e.g., Na silicate, as major components and a water-repellent, e.g., a silicone, and a surfactant as minor components, optionally with a stabilizer-plasticizer, e.g., a C2-4 diol, esp. ethylene glycol [107-21-1]. An optimal compn. consists of Na silicate 1400, ethylene glycol 38 L, surfactant Ultra-Wet D.S. [1322-98-1] 0.45 kg, water 19, odor-retardant 3.5, and a silicone water-repellent 57 L.
- The PAH hydrophobicity and solubilization in aqueous solutions of ionic surfactants
- The PAH hydrophobicity and solubilization in aqueous solutions of ionic surfactants. Krasnoshchekova, R.; Gubergrits, M. (Inst. Chem., Tallinn 200026, USSR). Polynucl. Aromat. Hydrocarbons, Int. Symp., 7th, Meeting Date 1982, 721-9. Edited by: Cooke, Marcus; Dennis, Anthony J. Battelle Press: Columbus, Ohio. (English) 1983. CODEN: 50NNAZ. DOCUMENT TYPE: Conference CA Section: 4 (Toxicology) Section cross-reference(s): 68 The solubilities of benzene [71-43-2] and 12 polycyclic arom. hydrocarbons (PAHs) in H2O varied from 4.4 ′ 10-7 mM for benzo[a]pyrene [50-32-8] to 13 mM for benzene. The surfactants, SDS [151-21-3], CTAB [57-09-0], and Na decylbenzenesulfonate (DBS) [1322-98-1], increased the solubilization of benzene and all PAHs by factors >10,000 and the binding consts. for benzo[a]pyrene for SDS, CTAB, and DBS were 0.12 ′ 109, 0.41 ′ 1011, and 0.43 ′ 1010, resp. Free energy values of PAH solubilization in all 3 surfactant solns. were detd.In this experiment, several chemicals are used like 71-43-2 and 91-20-3 A significant influence of an electrostatic effect as well as hydrophobic effect on solubilization was detd. An interaction between the surfactant micelle and the PAH takes place due to an electrophilic attack by the arene, indicating a marked structural effect of the PAH. .
