Optimum conditions were obtained with 30 cm3 mixing vol., 32 g load, rotor speed 30 rotations/min, and 2 parts tribasic Pb sulfate as stabilizer. As lubricants, stearic acid exhibited a much greater lubricating effect than did glycerin monostearate. .

Packings prepd. after gelation at 230° for 48 h had spec. wt. 0.450 g/cm3, smooth and glossy surface and sealing properties to 1.2 MPa. .
