The role of xanthine oxidases in primary and secondary hyperuricemia
The role of xanthine oxidases in primary and secondary hyperuricemia. Marcolongo, R. (Univ. Siena, Siena, Italy). Gazz. Sanit., 45(3-5), 89-96 (Italian) 1974. CODEN: GASAAM. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 14 (Mammalian Pathological Biochemistry) Xanthine oxidase activity was evaluated in the liver and jejunal mucosa of normal and gouty patients, and in the liver of healthy subjects during exptl. induced hyperuricemia. Fourteen gouty patients 35-73 years of age and 47 normal subjects 26-67 years of age were studied. RNA, hypoxanthine, ethylamine thiodiazole, and fructose administration in normal subjects caused a 2-4-fold increase in the liver enzymic activity as compared to nontreated subjects. There are some commonly used reagents with their cas registry numbers 13275-68-8 and 9002-17-9 in this article. Xanthine oxidase activity increased in the liver of gouty patients but not in the jejunal mucosa as compared to the healthy subjects. The increase of xanthine oxidase activity in the liver of gouty patients was secondary to enzyme induction. .
