The presence of dichloroxylenol in addn. to chloroxylenol resulted in increased activity, as did the substitution of KOH for NaOH.

Dichloroxylenol [133-53-9] had no efficacy. Although tetramisole (I) [5036-02-2] administered in drinking water had a moderate efficacy against 3- and 4-day-old larvae (47-71%), its level of efficacy against infections assocd. with disease, those of 7 days and older, was poor (5-29%). Neither product is likely to be of value in field outbreaks of syngamiasis.
