Degradation of O,O-dimethyl S-[
Degradation of O,O-dimethyl S-[.alpha.-(carboethoxy)benzyl]phosphorodithioate (phenthoate) in soil. Iwata, Yutaka; Ittig, Monika; Gunther, Francis A. (Dep. Entomol., Univ. California, Riverside, Calif., USA). Arch. Environ. Contam. Toxicol., 6(1), 1-21 (English) 1977. CODEN: AECTCV. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemicals) Section cross-reference(s): 19 The degrdn. of 14C-ring-labeled phenthoate [2597-03-7] in a moist sandy loam and silty clay loam soil was studied. Phenthoate degrdn. was attributed to the action of extracellular heat-labile soil enzymes which converted it to its carbon ester hydrolysis product, phenthoate acid [13376-78-8]. Thus, rate of phenthoate degrdn. was greatly retarded in autoclaved soil, but was equally rapid in nonsterile soil under both aerobic and anaerobic conditions. Degrdn. was also rapid even at a soil treatment of 100 ppm. Phenthoate acid was extensively degraded to 14CO2 by soil organisms under aerobic conditions, but due to unfavorable factors, it was degraded only by slow 1st-order kinetics under anaerobic conditions and at the 100 ppm fortification level under aerobic conditions.
Alteration of O,O-dimethyl S-[
Alteration of O,O-dimethyl S-[.alpha.-(carboethoxy)benzyl] phosphorodithioate (phenthoate) in citrus, water, and upon exposure to air and sunlight. Takade, Dennis Y.; Seo, Myung-Soo; Kao, T. S.; Fukuto, T. R. (Dep. Entomol., Univ. California, Riverside, Calif., USA). Arch. Environ. Contam. Toxicol. 23754-87-2 and 55843-16-8 which are cas registry numbers are also used here., 5(1), 63-86 (English) 1976. CODEN: AECTCV. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemicals) The fate of 32P- and 14C-labeled phenthoate (O,O-dimethyl S-[.alpha.-(carboethoxy)benzyl] phosphoroddithioate)(I) [2597-03-7] was detd. in citrus, water, and upon exposure to air and sunlight. The products recovered from citrus and glass plates exposed to sunlight were unchanged I, phenthoate oxon [3690-28-6], demethyl phenthoate [62488-69-1], mandelic acid [90-64-2], bis-[.alpha.-(carboethoxy)benzyl] disulfide [36519-38-7], O,O-dimethyl phosphorothioic acid [1112-38-5], and phosphorodithioic acid [15834-33-0]. Similar products generally were found in citrus leaf and fruit exts. I was fairly stable in phosphate-buffered water with a half-life of approx. 12 days at pH 8.0. The major hydrolysis products were phenthoate acid [13376-78-8], demethyl phenthoate and demethyl phenthoate oxon [62488-70-4]. .
