C 0.009, Si 0.29, Mn 1.71, Cr 20.24, Ni 10.04, and Mo 0.07% and cut. The assembly was hung in a 1.5 L vessel lined with Ag, and aq. 0.3% phosphomolybdic acid [1343-93-7] 3 and C3H6 0.2 kg/h-L were fed at 300° and 200 kg/cm2 for 3950 h. The Vickers hardness was 150-170 as welded or 230-290 after wire brush polishing, and no stress corrosion cracking was obsd., compared to cracking for all after 300 h when ground to give a hardness of 320-360.
