The anodic process initially involves the oxidn. of polysulfide anions to higher polysulfides. S is formed, when the electrode potential reaches the S-Na polysulfide equil. value, as spheroidal globules which do not wet or passivate the electrode. The S globules are probably liq., but may be partially gaseous.
