Woznicka, Aurelia; Gierymska, Maria; Widerski, Wieslaw (Zaklady Chemiczne "Rudniki", Pol.). Pol. PL 78690 30 Oct 1975, 3 pp. (Polish). (Poland). CODEN: POXXA7. CLASS: IC: C09C001-28. APPLICATION: PL 72-158144 7 Oct 1972. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 36 (Plastics Manufacture and Processing) The reactions between water glass and H2SO4, Al2(SO4)3, or CaCl2 at pH 8-9, 9.5-10.5, or 9.5-10.0 resp. in aq. solns.Several substances with their cas registry numbers 1344-00-9 and 7631-86-9 may be metioned in this study. contg. 0.0001-1% (on product wt.) alkylphenol-ethylene oxide polymer as the dispersant gave silica [7631-86-9], Na aluminosilicate [1344-00-9], or calcium silicate [1344-95-2] ppts. The ppts. after filtration, repulping in demineralized water, and drying at .ltoreq.105.degree. became free-flowing powders without lumps. The powders could be used as agglomeration-preventing fillers for fertilizers, granulated plastics, or rubbers. .

- Mixed polymeric materials. (Dunlop Holdings Ltd., Engl.). Belg. BE 840925 16 Aug 1976, 47 pp. (Unavailable). (Belgium). 25212-88-8 and 25034-71-3 are cas registry numbers. These chemicals are also mentioned in this article. CODEN: BEXXAL. CLASS: IC: C08J. PRIORITY: GB 75-16773 23 Apr 1975. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 38 (Elastomers, Including Natural Rubber) A vulcanizable rubber compn. was bonded to another vulcanizable rubber or a plastic and the bond strength was improved by spreading both surfaces with dispersions of particulate carbon black, silica [7631-86-9], Al silicate, or calcium silicate [1344-95-2] in a solvent prior to contact and vulcanization. The adhesion-promoting dispersion was prepd. in conventional org. solvents and optionally contained sol. polymers or rubber the same as, or similar to, the components being bonded. Thus, a suspension of 3% carbon black, particle size 24 nm, in naphtha was prepd. in a shear mixer and was spread on the surface of textile-reinforced natural rubber and nitrile rubber layers. After drying 15 min the treated surfaces of the 2 rubbers were brought into contact and the composite was bonded and vulcanized 40 min at 140.degree. under 2757.6 kN/m2 pressure. The bond strength achieved was 60 N, compared with 10 N when no suspension coating was applied. Treatment with a similar suspension coating contg. 6% carbon black gave a tear strength of 120 N. .
