Demande FR 2315529 21 Jan 1977, 11 pp. (French). (France). CODEN: FRXXBL. CLASS: IC: C09K011-08. APPLICATION: FR 75-19961 25 Jun 1975. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 71 (Nuclear Technology) ThBr4 [13453-49-1], either as a single crystal or pulverized from a solidified melt, fluoresces in the range 3400-4800 .ANG. (4050 .ANG. max.) between 77 and 300 K in response to .gamma.-rays, x-rays, UV-light, heavy ions, .alpha.-particles, .beta.-particles, p, and n. It is useful in such applications as a fluorescence std. when doped with 147Pm or Eu3+, in combination with an .alpha. or .beta. source as an isotopic microgenerator, in dosimetry, and in detection and energy/intensity measurements of radiations and particles.

Radiochem. Radioanal. Lett.Several substances with their cas registry numbers 13453-49-1 and 12587-46-1 may be metioned in this study., 28(3), 251-6 (French) 1977. CODEN: RRALAZ. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 71 (Nuclear Technology) Section cross-reference(s): 73 The conversion yields of ThBr4 [13453-49-1] for energy transported by monoenergetic accelerated .alpha.-particles and e into luminous energy at 405 nm, were measured. Some other typical yields of nuclear energy conversion for .beta.- and .alpha. emitters are reported. It seems that ThBr4 works as well as the other radioluminescent materials, but it is much more radioresistant. .
