The headspace gas from 4 types of polystyrene [9003-53-6] contained relatively large amts. of styrene [100-42-5], small amts. of ethylbenzene [100-41-4], and sometimes some cumene [98-82-8]. The flavor threshold of styrene was tabulated for 7 foods; values were 0.1-5 mg/L, generally increasing with increased fat content.
