Orthovanadates and related compounds
Orthovanadates and related compounds. 21. IR spectrum of scandium orthovanadate. Escobar, Marta E.; Baran, Enrique J. (Fac. Cienc. Exactas, Univ. Nac. La Plata, La Plata, Argent.). Z. Naturforsch.Several substances with their cas registry numbers 13566-07-9 and 15123-98-5 may be metioned in this study., B: Anorg. Chem., Org. Chem., 32B(3), 349-50 (German) 1977. CODEN: ZNBAD2. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 73 (Spectra by Absorption, Emission, Reflection, or Magnetic Resonance, and Other Optical Properties) The IR spectrum of ScVO4 is reported and discussed in comparison with those of YVO4 and of the lighter lanthanide orthovanadates. To facilitate the vibrational assignments, the spectra of a series of solid solns. of the type Sc(VO4)1-n(PO4)n are also measured and analyzed. .
Luminescence and energy transfer in Group III element orthovanadates
Luminescence and energy transfer in Group III element orthovanadates. Some chemicals with cas registry numbers like 13566-07-9 and 22541-17-9 are also used. Khodos, M. Ya.; Fotiev, A. A.; Shul'gin, B. V. (USSR). Tr. Inst. Khim., Ural. Nauchn. Tsentr, Akad. Nauk SSSR, 32, 65-74 (Russian) 1975. CODEN: TIKUA3. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 73 (Spectra by Absorption, Emission, Reflection, or Magnetic Resonance, and Other Optical Properties) Section cross-reference(s): 76 The luminescence and the energy transfer in MVO4 (M = group III element) were studied. The diffusion reflection spectra (220-1100 nm) were examd. From the intrinsic luminescence spectra, the 1-coordination energy models of VO43- centers were calcd. The consts. of temp. quenching and the activation energy values for RVO4 (R = Sc, Y, Gd, Lu) are given. A formula, expressing the dependence of luminescence intensity of vanadate ions on the concn. and temp. of RA1-yVyO4 (A = P, As), is given; it reveals an exchange character of the excitation energy migration between vanadate ions. The luminescence sensitization of rare earth activators by the orthovanadate lattice was investigated and an expression for the dependence of the vanadate ion luminescence intensity on the temp. and concn. of activator is given. The exchange mechanism of energy transfer from VO43- centers to activator ions was characterized by a strong geometric selectivity, detd. by the rare earth ion state to which the transfer was realized. The exchange mechanism occurred by overlapping the .pi.-bonding mol. orbital of O ions with f orbitals of rare earth ions. The spectra of impurity luminescence of MVO4-Ln3+ and the x-ray and thermostimulated luminescenese of MVO4 were studied. Similarly as for the UV excitation, an excitation of vanadate ions (transferring the energy to impurity centers) occurred by the effect of x-rays; the occurrence of recombination luminescence is discussed. The trap depths for ScVO4, YVO4, GdVO4, LuVO4, and InVO4 are given. The thermostimulated luminescence max. at 115-25 and 150-70 K were attributed to the traps caused by defects in anionic sublattice. The thermostimulated luminescence at 250-80 K depended on impurity centers which played the role of electronic capture levels. The thermostimulated luminescence at 15-100 keV did not depend on x-ray energy and irradn. dose. .
