Spraying twice unstripped wood with 1-vinyl-2-methylpyrrole [57807-64-4], 1-vinyl-2-ethyl-3-methylpyrrole [55847-30-8], and 1-vinyl-2--phenyl-3-amylpyrrole [69060-53-3] significantly reduced the insect population. 1-Vinyl-2-methyl-3-phenylpyrrole [81547-88-8], 1-vinyl-2-phenyl-3-hexylpyrrole [88054-95-9], and 1-vinyl-2-phenyl-5-trifluoroacetylpyrrole [70958-10-0] had attractant properties for some bark and long-horned beetles and other insects. 1-Vinyl-2-methyl-3-amylpyrrole [64222-37-3] acted as an attractant for pine weevil. Pine-tree beetle was 100% controlled by contact application of 1-vinyl-2-methylpyrrole and 1-vinyl-2-methyl-3-propylpyrrole [64222-35-1], 1 h after the treatment. Other 1-vinylpyrroles showed also high insecticidal efficacy. .
