Kinetics of inhibited polymerization of acrylic acid in a solution
Kinetics of inhibited polymerization of acrylic acid in a solution. Gol'dfein, M. D.; Trubnikov, A. V.; Aizenberg, L. V.; Simontseva, N. V. (Saratov. Gos. Univ., Saratov, USSR). Izv. Vyssh. Uchebn. Zaved., Khim. Khim. Tekhnol., 29(7), 91-5 (Russian) 1986. CODEN: IVUKAR. ISSN: 0579-2991. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 35 (Chemistry of Synthetic High Polymers) The kinetics and the mechanism were studied of the inhibition of AIBN [78-67-1]-initiated polymn. of acrylic acid [79-10-7] in air-free water, aq. AcOH [64-19-7], or aq. iso-PrOAc [108-21-4]. The stoichiometric inhibition coeffs. (m) of stable nitroxyl radicals (e.g., 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-oxopiperidin-1-oxyl [2896-70-0]) in water were 1. 78-67-1 is also in the experiment.3-4.0 (flux values reflected decreased initiation efficiency due to H bonding in water). The inhibition by the above radicals proceeded via disproportionation between them and polymeric radicals, resulting in nitroso compds. which also acted as inhibitors, lowering the effective rate consts. of inhibition. The m of copper diethyldithiocarbamate (I) [13681-87-3] was 2.0, 3.3, and 4.16 in aq. AcOH, aq. iso-PrOAc, and water, resp., due to assocn. between polymeric radicals and AcOH or iso-PrOAc. The inhibition by I proceeded via electron transfer from I to active allyl or peroxide radicals. .

Radiation-chemical oxidation of N,N,N',N'-tetramethyldiaminodiphenylmethane in poly(vinyl chloride). Kolninov, O. V.; Lisovskaya, I. A.; Rukhadze, E. G. (Filial Nauchno-Issled. Fiz.-Khim. Inst. im. Karpova, USSR).There are some reagents with their cas registry numbers 14239-51-1 and 9002-86-2 are used in this study. Vysokomol. Soedin., Ser. A, 26(3), 524-9 (Russian) 1984. CODEN: VYSAAF. ISSN: 0507-5475. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 37 (Plastics Manufacture and Processing) During g irradn. of PVC [9002-86-2] films contg. p-Me2NC6H4CH2C6H4NMe2-p (I) [101-61-1], I underwent radiochem. oxidn. to give a Michler's hydrol and ketone. Radiochem. yield of the Michler's hydrol cation (II) [14844-71-4] in PVC was 1-2 orders of magnitude higher than the yield in a polystyrene [9003-53-6] or poly(Me methacrylate) [9011-14-7] matrix. The addn. of Cu[SC(S)NEt2]2 [13681-87-3] had little effect on the radiochem. yield of II in PVC films. The addn. of Hg[SC(S)NEt2]2 [14239-51-1], however, led to a 4-fold increase in the radiochem. yield of II. .
