(Argonne Natl. Lab., Argonne, IL 60439, USA). J. Chem. Phys., 80(1), 460-6 (English) 1984. CODEN: JCPSA6. ISSN: 0021-9606. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 69 (Thermodynamics, Thermochemistry, and Thermal Properties) The heat capacities of pure, well-characterized samples of DyF3 [13569-80-7] and ErF3 [13760-83-3] were detd. by adiabatic calorimetry at 5-350 K. The heat capacities, entropies, enthalpy increments, and the Planck functions - [G°(T) - H°(0)]/T are presented in tabular form at selected temps. to 350 K. The values of the 3 functions were adjusted for the removal of degeneracies assocd. with the magnetic ordering of DyF3 and ErF3 at <5 K. Recommended thermochem. functions at 298.15 K and tables of recommended high-temp. thermodn. functions from 400 K to the m.ps. are given. The excess heat capacities due to the internal electronic energy levels of Dy+3 in DyF3 and of Er+3 in ErF3 were calcd. from calorimetric results. In the case of DyF3, the 8 Kramer's doublets derived from spectroscopic measurements were used to calc. an excess heat capacity which is in good agreement with the calorimetric data.

- Optical properties of Er3+ doped fluoroborate glasses. Sharma, Brajesh; Rai, D.Several substances are used for example 497-19-8 and 13760-83-3 which are their cas registry numbers. K.; Rai, S. B. (Dep. Phys., Banaras Hindu Univ., Varanasi 221 005, India). Indian Journal of Physics, B, 70B(5), 397-407 (English) 1996 Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science. CODEN: IJPBDU. ISSN: 0252-9254. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 73 (Optical, Electron, and Mass Spectroscopy and Other Related Properties) A detailed study of the phys., absorption and fluorescence properties of 6 Er3+ doped fluoroborate glasses at 300 K and 77 K was carried out. From the exptl. values of the oscillator strengths the Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters were obtained. The transition probabilities, radiative branching ratios and the stimulated emission cross section for the different transitions also were calcd. using these parameters. From these studies the presence of Al in fluoroborate glass show better optical characteristics. The transition 4S3/2 ? 4I15/2 show largest stimulated cross section and fluorescence yield. .
