Synthesis and rate of decomposition of lithium hypochlorite crystals
Synthesis and rate of decomposition of lithium hypochlorite crystals. Hamano, Arihiro; Hiramoto, Yuji; Setozaki, Kyou; Hamamoto, Takuya; Murai, Tuyosi (Dep. Ind. Chem., Sasebo Coll. Technol., Sasebo 857-11, Japan). Nippon Kagaku Kaishi, (3), 297-300 (Japanese) 1992. CODEN: NKAKB8. ISSN: 0369-4577. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 49 (Industrial Inorganic Chemicals) Section cross-reference(s): 67 LiClO crystals were prepd. by hydrolysis of Me3CClO. The LiClO thus prepd. contained LiClO3 2.7, LiCl 5.1, LiOH 3.1, and H2O (water of crystn. and adhesion) 14.7% as impurities. DTA showed that the adhesive water was lost at 37° and the water of crystn. at 62°, resp., and an explosive exothermic reaction occurred at 143°. X-ray powder diffraction expts. proved that the decompn. products obtained at 143° were LiCl and LiClO3. Expts. on the decompn. rate at 100° showed that the particle size of the crystals did not affect the decompn. 13840-33-0 and 507-40-4 are cas registry numbers of chemicals which are used as reagents here. rate and that the decompn. rate was lower under decreased pressure than under atm. pressure. The rate of decompn. of LiClO was slower than that of LiClO.H2O. The LiClO decompn. rate was enhanced by the presence of LiClO3. The decompn. temp. of the LiClO crystals was higher than that of NaClO. The results of DTA, x-ray diffraction, gas chromatog., and chem. anal. showed that the decompn. of LiClO consists of the main reaction 3LiClO ? 2LiCl + LiClO3 and the 5-10% subreaction LiClO ? LiCl + 1/2O2. .
Reduction of viscosity of aqueous fluids
Reduction of viscosity of aqueous fluids. Williams, Martin M.; Phelps, Martha A.; Zody, George M. (Hi-Tek Polymers, Inc., USA). U.S. US 4647385 A 3 Mar 1987, 3 pp. (United States of America) CODEN: USXXAM. CLASS: ICM: E21B043-26. ICS: C09K007-02. NCL: 252008551. APPLICATION: US 85-796965 12 Nov 1985. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 51 (Fossil Fuels, Derivatives, and Related Products) The viscosity of aq. systems thickened with a natural or synthetic water-sol. polymer (chosen from cellulose derivs., polysaccharides, polyacrylamide, polyacrylic acid, polymethacrylamide, acrylic acid-acrylamide copolymer, or mixts.) is reduced by addn. of an otherwise nonreactive tertiary amine and an alkali metal or alk. earth metal hypochlorite at 0.25-.25-25 wt. parts per 100 wt. parts water-sol. polymer. A thickened aq. fluid (1000 gal), contg. 40 lbs hydroxypropyl guar, was mixed with 0.5 lbs LiClO and 0.5 lbs triethanolamine; the viscosity of the fluid after 60 min was 3.6 cP (at 511 s-1 shear). The compn. 9004-62-0 and 13840-33-0 are just another two chemicals used in this study. is esp. useful for breaking of thickened fluids used in enhanced petroleum recovery. .
