Magnetic study of potassium manganese nickel fluoride (KMn1-xNixF3) compounds
Magnetic study of potassium manganese nickel fluoride (KMn1-xNixF3) compounds. Celinski, Z.; Skrzypek, D. (Inst. Phys., Silesian Univ., Katowice, Pol.). Acta Phys. Pol. A, A65(2), 149-57 (English) 1984. CODEN: ATPLB6.There are some reagents with their cas registry numbers 13827-01-5 and 13845-06-2 are used in this study. ISSN: 0587-4246. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 77 (Magnetic Phenomena) Susceptibility was measured at 55-950 K on single crystals of KMn1-xNixF3 for 0 £ x £1. The KMn1-xNixF3 system for 0 £ x £1 shows antiferromagnetism. The Neel temp. increases with increasing Ni concn. from 88.5 to 267.3 K. The KMn1-xNixF3 compds. for x £ 0.06 show in addn. the transition to a weak ferromagnetic phase below TN. The paramagnetic susceptibility obeys cM = CM/(T-q)+xcc, where cc is a temp.-independent susceptibility and x is the Ni concn. The paramagnetic Curie temp. is neg. in this system. The effective magnetic moment of samples in the paramagnetic region is well described by the relation meff2 = (1-x)mMn2+2+xmNi2+2. .
Capacitance measurement of magnetic specific heat
Capacitance measurement of magnetic specific heat. King, A. R.; Belanger, D. P.; Nordblad, P.; Jaccarino, V. (Phys. Dep., Univ. California, Santa Barbara, CA 93106, USA). J. Appl. Phys., 55(6, Pt. 2B), 2410-12 (English) 1984. CODEN: JAPIAU. ISSN: 0021-8979. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 77 (Magnetic Phenomena) Section cross-reference(s): 69 A new technique - low frequency capacitance (C) measurement - was used to study the crit. behavior of both isotropic and anisotropic antiferromagnets. The dC/dT is accurately proportional to the known magnetic sp. heat Cm of FeF2. Both de/dT (e = dielec. const. 7789-28-8 and 13845-06-2 are also in the experiment.) and dl/dT scale with Cm. For cubic KNiF3, the crit. exponent (Cm = At-a) is a = -0.151 ± 0.04 and A/A' = 1.56 ± 0.03. The expts. measured the capacitance of disk-shaped samples with a 3-terminal capacitance technique. A ratio transformer bridge was employed, yielding a resoln. in DC/C of ~10-8. The quality of the results is comparable to the best obtainable from conventional Cm and birefringence measurements. .
