(of coating type, 0.2-2 m thick, at 50-70°); and (4) drying at 70-120° without rinsing to form a chromate conversion coating (Cr 10-100 mg/m2). The treatment improves adhesion, scratch and corrosion resistance of the paint on cold-rolled steel sheets, and can be easily applied at a low cost without environmental pollution. Thus, a cold-rolled steel sheet (0.8 mm thick) was degreased, phosphated with a Zn phosphate-type agent Granodine 46N-1 [13847-22-8], rinsed with hot water, treated with a chromate treatment soln. Accomet C [90599-55-6], and dried to form a chromate conversion coating (0.2 m thick, Cr 10 mg/m2). The sheet was coated (5 m thick) with an epoxy type primer Superlac DIF [80702-63-2], baked, coated (baked thickness 15 m) with a polyester paint (Superlac DIF), and baked to show excellent adhesion, scratch and corrosion resistance of the paint.

Polyamide resin H 105 [39385-68-7] improved all except polyurethane coatings, and silicone resins improved only one polyester system. .
