Thus, dried leaves (9 kg) of I. cornuta were pulverized and extd. with 80 L MeOH for 20 days. The solvent was removed, and the residue was partitioned in a BuOH-H2O (1:1 by vol./vol.) mixt. The org. layer was taken and the solvent was removed by distn. The residue was dissolved in MeOH and added to AcOEt. A ppt. formed was isolated, treated with Kieselguhr-60, and eluted with CHCl3-MeOH-H2O (:1) to obtain I. .
