Thus, NaH in THF was treated with 2-phenylethenesulfonic acid [6-(2-hydroxyethoxy)-5-p-tolylpyrimidin-4-yl]amide (prepn. given); after 1 h stirring 5-bromo-2-chloropyrimidine was added and stirring continued for 21 h at 80° to give 2-phenylethenesulfonic acid [6-[2-(5-bromopyrimidin-2-yloxy)ethoxy]-5-p-tolylpyrimidin-4-yl]amide. The latter antagonized endothelin ETA receptors with IC50 = 1.8 nM.
