DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 28 (Heterocyclic Compounds (More Than One Hetero Atom)) 1,3,4-Thiadiazol-2-ylureas I (R = Me, Et, Pr) were prepd. by treating II with ClCONMe2 in C5H5N, followed by the hydrolysis of the resulting III with KOH-MeOH. Thus, II (R = Me) was stirred with 3 molar equiv. ClCONMe2 in C5H5N at room temp. for 3 h to give 81% III (R = Me), which was hydrolyzed to I (R = Me) in 76% yield by heating with 5% KOH-MeOH for 0.5 h. .
