Agency: Washington, D. C. (English) 1975. CODEN: 34VDAF. DOCUMENT TYPE: Conference CA Section: 35 (Synthetic High Polymers) Section cross-reference(s): 60 Alkyl halide and p-toluenesulfonic acid salts of 2-methylvinylpyridine (I) polymd. to provide cationic flocculants. In 50% aq. EtOH, the rate of radical polymn. decreased in the alkyl halide order MeI salt [17810-46-7] > EtI salt [25591-70-2] > MeBr salt [53584-12-6] > EtBr salt [2582-01-6] > PrBr salt [53584-13-7]. The monomers had greater equiv. elec. cond. (0.015 M soln.) than the polymers, with bromides being greater than iodides. I EtBr salt polymer [42936-61-8], I EtI salt polymer [25748-06-5], and I MeI salt polymer [25748-05-4] are used to flocculate aq. humic acid [1415-93-6] and fulvic acid [479-66-3] solns. .

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 55 (Ferrous Metals and Alloys) Section cross-reference(s): 51 Corrosion of steel 08kp [11103-16-5] was tested in humic acid (I) [1415-93-6] frozen from the swamp water and dild. with distd. H2O. The corrosion rate of steel in I did not change with increasing acid concn. and was practically identical to that in distd. H2O. The 240-h expts. confirmed that I was not corrosion-stimulant and that the corrosion of steel was affected by temp. changes.
