Further studies on the nature of sodium nitroprusside-induced hypothermia in mice
Further studies on the nature of sodium nitroprusside-induced hypothermia in mice. II. Effect of pretreatment with sodium nitrite. Burke, David H. (Div. Pharmacol., Marquette Univ. Sch. Dent., Milwaukee, Wis., USA). Toxicol. Appl. Pharmacol., 44(3), 505-10 (English) 1978. CODEN: TXAPA9. ISSN: 0041-008X. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) The effect of NaCN [143-33-9], NaSCN [540-72-7], Na3Fe(CN)6 [14217-21-1], and NaNO2 [7632-00-0] in equimolar amts. to Na2Fe(CN)5NO [14402-89-2] (5 mg/kg) was noted. CN alone produced hypothermia comparable in magnitude to that produced by nitroprusside at the 30-min interval following injection by the i.p. route. The time course of the effect of CN (1.03, 2.05, and 4.1 mg/kg i.p.) upon rectal temp. was dose-dependent. NaNO2 pretreatment (25 and 50 mg/kg) prevented the hypothermia caused by CN and nitroprusside. Nitroprusside-induced hypothermia appears to be mediated indirectly through the in vitro release of CN.
Treatment of wastewaters containing cyanoferrate salts
Treatment of wastewaters containing cyanoferrate salts. Kaneo, Toshiaki (Toyo Ink Mfg. Co., Ltd., Japan). Japan. Kokai JP 53078658 12 Jul 1978 Showa, 2 pp. (Japanese). (Japan). CODEN: JKXXAF. CLASS: IC: C02C005-02. APPLICATION: JP 76-154301 23 Dec 1976. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 60 (Sewage and Wastes) Wastewaters contg. cyanoferrate salts are treated with a Zn compd. and a reducing agent. Thus, wastewater (pH 11.5) contg. Na4[FeCCN)6] [13601-19-9] and Na3[FeCCN)6] [14217-21-1] 50 ppm each was mixed with ZnCl2 and Na2S2O4, stirred for 5 min, and flocculated with a polymeric flocculant. The residual cyanide was 0.92 ppm.
