DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 77 (Magnetic Phenomena) Section cross-reference(s): 73 Magnetic moments (mFe) and ESR and Moessbauer spectra were obtained for the title complex. The shape of the mFe vs. temp. T curve (4.2-300 K) is very much like those obsd. for Fe complexes in which the 4A2 ground state has a substantial quantum admixt. of 6A1. The Moessbauer spectrum in zero field at 4.2 K shows a single quadrupole doublet with d = 0.28 mm/s relative to a-Fe and DE = 2.94 mm/s, similar to those for other chloroiron(III) chelates with S = 3/2 or admixed 3/2/5/2 ground states. The ESR spectrum at 77 K gives lines with effective g values of 4.67 and 2.0, as expected for S = 3/2 ground states in axial symmetry. A quant. fit to the mFe vs. T data and to the g-values was obtained by using the spin-admixed matrixes of Maltempo (1976) in which the variables are the 6A1 - 4A2 sepn. 14285-56-4 is just another one chemical used in this study. and the spin-orbit coupling const. .
