Design of a fluorine-18 production system at ORNL 86-inch cyclotron
Design of a fluorine-18 production system at ORNL 86-inch cyclotron. Shaeffer, M. C.; Barreto, F.; Datesh, J. R.; Goldstein, B. R. (Massachusetts Inst. Technol., Cambridge, Mass., USA). Report, ORNL/MIT-258, 17 pp. Avail. NTIS From: Energy Res. Abstr. 1978, 3(12), Abstr. No. 29190 (English) 1977. DOCUMENT TYPE: Report CA Section: 71 (Nuclear Technology) A target system for the prodn. of 18F [13981-56-1] by p bombardment of H218O [14314-42-2] was designed for the ORNL 86-in. cyclotron facility. The system consists of concentric Ti and Al cylinders. H218O circulates through the inner Ti cylinder and through an external heat exchanger with cooling water flowing in the annulus. Yields of 5.0 Ci are expected for a 250-mA p beam current and 24-min irradn. time.
Photochemical Reaction Dynamics of the N2O×H218O van der Waals Complex
Photochemical Reaction Dynamics of the N2O×H218O van der Waals Complex. Tanaka, Nobuaki; Nagashima, Umpei; Takayanagi, Masao; Kim, Hong Lae; Hanazaki, Ichiro (Institute for Molecular Science, Okazaki 444, Japan). Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 101(4), 507-512 (English) 1997 American Chemical Society. CODEN: JPCAFH. ISSN: 1089-5639. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 74 (Radiation Chemistry, Photochemistry, and Photographic and Other Reprographic Processes) The rotational and vibrational energy distributions have been detd. for the OH radicals resulting from the 193 nm photolysis of the van der Waals complex N2O×H2O. 3352-57-6 and 14314-42-2 which are cas registry numbers are also used here. Laser-induced fluorescence was used to probe the OH radicals. The rotational distributions of OH are characterized by the Boltzmann temps. of 1700 K for 16OH n'' = 0 and n'' = 1 and of 1600 K for 18OH n'' = 0. A quantity of 29% 16OH exists in the v = 1 state, while 18OH is produced almost exclusively in the v = 0 state. A possible reaction scheme is discussed based on the comparison of the present results with the corresponding bimol. reaction and with the O3/H2O system. .
