DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) Section cross-reference(s): 3 5'-Sulfamino-5'-deoxyadenosine Na salt (I) [66825-41-0] and 5'-sulfamino-5'-deoxythymidine Na salt (II) [66801-17-0] were synthesized by reaction of Me3N×SO3 [3162-58-1] with 5'-amino-5'-deoxyadenosine [14365-44-7] and 5'-amino-5'-deoxythymidine [25152-20-9], resp. I and II were stable in acidic or basic aq. soln. Neither I and II inhibited the growth of Escherichia coli or L1210 cells at <10-4M. At 10-4M, II inhibited the replication of herpes simplex virus (type 1) by 70% with no effect on host cell growth.
