- Fluoroacetic acid in guar gum
- Fluoroacetic acid in guar gum. Vartiainen, T.; Gynther, J. (Dep. Chem., Univ. Kuopio, Finland). Food Chem. Toxicol., 22(4), 307-8 (English) 1984. CODEN: FCTOD7. ISSN: 0278-6915. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) Section cross-reference(s): 11 Fluoroacetic acid [144-49-0] was detected at a low level in a raw samples of guar gum [9000-30-0] (0.07-1.42 mg fluoroacetic acid/g). Beans of Cyamopsis tetragonolobus contained 1 mg/g, whereas a sample of guar-gum pharmaceutical formulation contained only 0.08 ppm fluoroacetate. One exceptionally high value of 9.5 mg/g was found in a guar-gum powder. The low concns. of fluoroacetate found in guar gum dispel any considerations about possible health risks assocd. with fluoroacetate during the prolonged use of guar gum at the recommended doses.
- Influence of extracellular ions on the positive inotropic effects of sodium fluoroacetate and dobutamine
- Influence of extracellular ions on the positive inotropic effects of sodium fluoroacetate and dobutamine. Burande, Mahesh D.; Goyal, Ramesh K.; Verma, Subhash C. (Dep. Pharmacol., L. M. Coll. Pharm., Ahmedabad 380009, India). Indian J. Pharmacol., 15(2), 111-18 (English) 1983. CODEN: INJPD2. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Section cross-reference(s): 13 Fluoroacetate (I) [144-49-0] and dobutamine (II) [34368-04-2] induced dose-dependent pos. inotropic effects in isolated frog heart prepns. without affecting heart rate. Changes in the concn. of extracellular ions (Na+, K+, Ca2+) in the perfusion medium altered the I-induced pos. inotropic effect, whereas the II-induced effect was altered only by changes in the extracellular concn. of Ca2+. The I-induced pos. inotropic effect may be due to a Na+ extrusion mechanism leading to facilitation of Ca2+ uptake; II may act through a mechanism independent of extracellular ions.
