Boronphenylalanine insertion in cationic liposomes for Boron Neutron Capture Therapy
Some chemicals with cas registry numbers like 144189-73-1 and 74923-16-3 are also used. Boronphenylalanine insertion in cationic liposomes for Boron Neutron Capture Therapy. Martini, Silvia; Ristori, Sandra; Pucci, Amaranta; Bonechi, Claudia; Becciolini, Aldo; Martini, Giacomo; Rossi, Claudio (University of Siena Via Aldo Moro, Department of Chemical and Biosystem Sciences, Siena 53100, Italy). Biophysical Chemistry, 111(1), 27-34 (English) 2004 Elsevier B.V. CODEN: BICIAZ. ISSN: 0301-4622. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) Section cross-reference(s): 8 Cationic liposomes are widely used as carriers of biomols. specifically targeted to the cell nucleus. P-Boronphenylalanine (BPA) is a powerful anti-tumor agent for Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT). In this paper, 1H and 13C NMR was used to study the insertion of BPA in mixed liposomes, made up by the pos. charged 1,2-dioleoyl-3-trimethylammonium-propane (DOTAP) and the zwitterionic 1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DOPE). The boronated drug was distributed between the water phase and the liposomes. The location site of BPA into the lipid bilayer was investigated and the boron-substituted arom. ring was found inserted in the hydrophobic region, whereas the amino acidic group was oriented towards the aq. environment. Further information was given by proton spin-lattice relaxation rates. .
Correlated adsorption of polyelectrolytes in the "charge inversion" of colloidal particles
Correlated adsorption of polyelectrolytes in the "charge inversion" of colloidal particles. Sennato, S.; Bordi, F.; Cametti, C. (Dipartimento di Fisica, Universita di Roma "La Sapienza", Rome 00185, Italy). Europhysics Letters, 68(2), 296-302 (English) 2004 EDP Sciences. CODEN: EULEEJ. ISSN: 0295-5075. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 36 (Physical Properties of Synthetic High Polymers) Section cross-reference(s): 6 In this letter, we study the complexation of spherical colloidal particles induced by oppositely charged polyelectrolytes by dynamic light scattering technique. We employed cationic liposomes, 100 nm in diam., and compared their aggregation behavior in the presence of differently organized counterions, i.e. simple uni-valent ions, deriving from the dissocn. of NaCl salt, and multi-ions bounded to a polymer chain (large-valence polyions deriving from the ionization of two polyelectrolyte chains, polyacrylate and DNA). We show that the system behaves differently and, in the presence of oppositely charged polyions, undergoes a well-defined re-entrant condensation, following a charge inversion effect, as a function of the counterion concn. in the aq. phase. 144189-73-1 and 9003-04-7 are just another two chemicals used in this study. Our results present a clear evidence of the role played by the lateral correlation of polyion chains onto the charged-particle surface, in terms of a simple Wigner crystal theory, according to the idea developed by Nguyen et al. .
