Sterols, methylsterols, and terpene alcohols of 10 rape varieties whose erucic acid content is low or zero
Sterols, methylsterols, and terpene alcohols of 10 rape varieties whose erucic acid content is low or zero. Conte, L. S.; Capella, P. (Ist. Ind. Agrar., Univ. Bologna, Bologna, Italy). Rev. Fr. Corps Gras, 30(5), 195-8 (French) 1983. CODEN: RFCGAE. ISSN: 0035-3000. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 17 (Food and Feed Chemistry) Section cross-reference(s): 11 Chromatog. anal. of oils extd. from 10 varieties of rape showed that marked correlations existed between sterols and some of the main fatty acids, whereas methylsterols and terpene alcs. showed considerable variability which did not seem to be a function of erucic acid (I) [112-86-7] content or sterol compn. The Brink variety had the highest I content (2.2%) and the max. value for brassicasterol [474-67-9] (12.3% of the sterol fraction). Amts. of I were correlated with those of brassicasterol, campesterol [474-62-4], and b-sitosterol [83-46-5]. Methylsterols and terpene alcs. were greatly affected by variety. Among terpene alcs. 24-methylenecycloartanol [1449-09-8] was present in important amts. but was not preponderant. In some cases, cycloartanol [4657-58-3] and in others b-amyrin [559-70-6] were important.
Anti-proteolytic activity of some triterpenoids
Anti-proteolytic activity of some triterpenoids. Some chemicals with cas registry numbers like 14021-23-9 and 14021-26-2 are also used. Banerji, R.; Nigam, S. K. (Natl. Bot. Res. Inst., Lucknow, India). Int. J. Crude Drug Res., 21(2), 93-5 (English) 1983. CODEN: IJCREE. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Section cross-reference(s): 7 Five of the 7 triterpenoids of plant origin tested exhibited antiproteolytic activity; b-amyrin Me ether [14021-26-2] at 40 and 60 mg% had activity equiv. to that of the ref. drug, salicylate. Cedrelone [1254-85-9], b-amyrin Me ether, 24-methylene cycloartanol [1449-09-8] and its acetate [1259-94-5] were better inhibitors with bovine serum albumin as the substrate than with casein as the substrate. .
