DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 39 (Synthetic Elastomers and Natural Rubber) Vulcanization of silicone rubber compds. based on siloxanes contg. vinyl and Si-H groups catalyzed by [RhCl(CO)2]2 [14523-22-9], [RhCl(C2H4)2]2] [12081-16-2], [RhCl(1,5-COD)]2 [12092-47-6], [RhCl(NBD)]2 [12257-42-0], RhCl[P(C6H5)3]3 [14694-95-2], and Rh(acac)3 [14284-92-5] (1,5-COD = 1,5-cyclooctadiene, NBD = norbornadiene, acac = acetylacetonate) was studied with respect to the catalyst, solvent, and reaction conditions. The course of vulcanization as well as the crosslinking d. of the vulcanizate and the content of sol indicate that the above catalysts are comparable to, and in some cases even better than, the widely used hexachloroplatinic acid.

Only for I (X = F) the coordination shifts Dd = d(complex)-d(ligand) and coupling consts. give some indication to possible Rh ? Si interactions. However, the mol. structure of I (X = F) detd. by x-ray diffraction does not show RhSi or RhF bonding contacts. The new compds. were characterized by anal. (C, H) and spectroscopic investigations (MS, IR, NMR). Crystal data; I, triclinic space group P1, a 8.769(4), b 8.893(3), c 10.402(2) ?, a 105.81(2), b 103.09(2), g 114. 14523-22-9 and 139772-63-7 are just another two chemicals used in this study.07(2)°, Z = 1, R1 = 0.0310, R2 = 0.0324. .
