Isolation and identification of a new a-pyrone from Opuntia dillenii
Isolation and identification of a new a-pyrone from Opuntia dillenii. Qiu, Yingkun; Dou, Deqiang; Pei, Yuping; Yoshikawa, Masayuki; Matsuda, Hisashi; Chen, Yingjie (Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, Shenyang 110016, Peop.Several substances are used for example 153-18-4 and 1454-85-9 which are their cas registry numbers. Rep. China). Yaoxue Xuebao, 38(7), 523-525 (Chinese) 2003 Yaoxue Xuebao Bianjibu. CODEN: YHHPAL. ISSN: 0513-4870. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 11 (Plant Biochemistry) Section cross-reference(s): 26 The chem. compn. of Opuntia dillenii Haw. was studied. Many kinds of chromatog. methods were used to sep. the chem. constituents. Their structures were detd. by NMR and MS spectral anal. A new compd., together with five known compds., were isolated from the 80% ethanolic ext. of the stems. The new compd. was identified as 4-ethoxy-6-hydroxymethyl-a-pyrone. Compds. 1, 3, 4, and 5 were obtained for the first time from the genus of Opuntia, and they were 3-O-methylisorhamnein, 1-heptanecanol, vanillic acid, isorhamnetin-3-O-b-D-rutinoside. Rutin was isolated from this plant for the first time. .
Polymorphism of N-Alkanols: 1-Heptadecanol, 1-Octadecanol, 1-Nonadecanol, and 1-Eicosanol
Polymorphism of N-Alkanols: 1-Heptadecanol, 1-Octadecanol, 1-Nonadecanol, and 1-Eicosanol. Ventola, L.; Ramirez, M.; Calvet, T.; Solans, X.; Cuevas-Diarte, M. A.; Negrier, P.; Mondieig, D.; Van Miltenburg, J. C.; Oonk, H. A. J. ( Departament de Cristallografia, Mineralogia i Diposits Minerals, Facultat de Geologia, Universitat de Barcelona, Barcelona E-08028, Spain). Chemistry of Materials, 14(2), 508-517 (English) 2002 American Chemical Society. CODEN: CMATEX. ISSN: 0897-4756. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 75 (Crystallography and Liquid Crystals) The polymorphism of 1-heptadecanol (C17H35OH), 1-octadecanol (C18H37OH), 1-nonadecanol (C19H39OH), and 1-eicosanol (C20H41OH) was studied by x-ray powder diffraction, DSC, Raman scattering, and IR spectroscopy. At room-temp. two monoclinic forms, b and g, are obsd. For the n-alkanols with an even no. of carbons the stable form is g, whereas b is the stable form for the n-alkanols with an odd no. of carbons. On heating, these phases transform to a monoclinic, rotator form R'IV at a few degrees below the m.p. A metastable b form was obtained by quenching from the melt for 1-octadecanol and 1-eicosanol, which is isostructural with the b-phase of the odd alkanols. Lattice parameters, temps., and enthalpies of the transitions are reported.
