DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 64 (Pharmaceutical Analysis) A collaborative study was carried out to develop a HPLC method for the detn. of vitamin E [1406-18-4], a-tocopherol [59-02-9], a-tocopheryl acetate [58-95-7], and a-tocopheryl succinate calcium [14638-18-7]. The method involves reversed-phase sepn. on octadecylsilane chem. bound to silica with a mobile phase mainly composed of MeOH. Since a preliminary intralab. HPLC study comparing the abs. calibration curve method with the internal std. method showed no significant differences in the results, the less complicated abs. calibration curve method was chosen for the detn. of vitamin E. Twelve samples of vitamin E were analyzed by 10 labs. to compare the Japanese Pharmacopeia method and HPLC method for quant. detg. vitamin E. The data from all the labs. were statistically analyzed.
