DOCUMENT TYPE: Report CA Section: 37 (Plastics Manufacture and Processing) The effect of 2,4,6-tribromoaniline (I) [147-82-0] fireproofing agent on the physicomech. properties of polyester PN 63 [39347-10-9] cured in the presence of MEK peroxide (II) [1338-23-4] and UNK-2 [93616-35-4] initiators was studied. The temp. change (DT) in exothermal curing, the time (t1) from the beginning of the reaction till max. DT, and total curing time (t2) depended on the initiator content. Min. DT (£9°) was attained with 3% II and 1% UNK-2. The t1 and t2 of PN 63 increased but DT did not change with increasing I content. The flammability of cured I decreased but the physicomech. properties were not affected by addn. of I.

- Recoil chemistry of dibromobenzene and mono- and tribromoanilines. Arnikar, H. J.; Patnaik, S. K.; Pathak, T. P. S. (Dep. Chem., Univ. Poona, Poona, India). Radiochim. Acta, 23(3-4), 167-9 (English) 1976. CODEN: RAACAP. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 70 (Nuclear Phenomena) Thermal annealing of radiofragments of 80Br [14391-61-8] and 80mBg produced during irradn. of different arom. bromo-compds. in the solid state both by pure n and n accompanied by g-rays, was investigated. The aq. (i.e. inorg. Bg yields obsd. are 40, 70, and 46% resp. for para-dibromo-benzene [106-37-6], para-bromoaniline [106-40-1], and 2,4,6-tribromoaniline [147-82-0]. On heating these yields decrease markedly in the case of para-dibromobenzene and tribromoaniline. Similarly thermal annealing is negligible in para-bromoaniline. The annealing isotherms are similar to those for inorg. systems, proceeding initially fast and reaching rapidly satn. The plateau value also increases with temp. The reaction follows a 1st order law, the activation energies being 2.8 and 2.5 kJ mole-1 for para-dibromobenzene and 2,4,6-tribromoaniline, resp. The annealing reaction proceeds exclusively through an atom transfer process in the solid state. Neither pre- nor post-irradn. of the sample by g-rays from a 60Co source was found to have any effect on subsequent pulse isochronal annealing.
