CODEN: IDFZA7. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 70 (Nuclear Phenomena) The energy spectra of p and d from the reactions (.alpha.,p) and (.alpha.,d) on 12C [7440-44-0] and 13C [14762-74-4] are investigated at the .alpha.-particle energy of 50 MeV. A manifest selection in excitation of high-spin many-particle states is obsd. in the (.alpha.,p) reaction. .

The excitation function of the 13C(.alpha.,n)16O reaction and its astrophysical application. Ramstrom, E.; Wiedling, T. (Neutron Phys. Lab., At. Energy Co., Nykoping, Swed.). Nucl. Phys. A, A272(1), 259-68 (English) 1976. CODEN: NUPABL. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 70 (Nuclear Phenomena) Neutron-liberating reactions as well as n absorbing process play important parts in the synthesis of elements in a star and in the different phases of its life sequence. Thus, the 13C(.alpha.,n)16O reaction is of interest, for instance, in connection with processes such as hydrostatic and explosive burning, as well as in the synthesis of O and other light elements. A good knowledge of the energy dependence of the cross section of the .alpha.-C reaction is evidently of importance. The n yield from a thick 13C [14762-74-4] target was measured for .alpha.-particles in the energy range 0.60-1.15 MeV with a sensitive 4.pi. n detector. Stellar temps. between 3.5 and 9.2 . 13968-48-4 and 12587-46-1 which are cas registry numbers of substances are two of reagents here.times. 108 K are involved in this energy region. The n yield curve was used to det. astrophys. cross section factors S(E) as well as parameters for the 1.056-MeV resonance. Starting from these quantities, an expression for the mean lifetime of 13C nuclei interacting with H was derived. .
