DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 68 (Phase Equilibriums, Chemical Equilibriums, and Solutions) 6-Amino-4,4'-(5-nonyl)-2,2'-bipyridine (ADNBP) was studied for adduct formation in combination with 8-quinolinol (HQ) for lanthanide extns. Yb, Pr and La were extd. as mixed complexes, LnQ3.ADNBP. 8-Quinolinol did not form self-adducts in these systems under the given conditions. Extractabilities are enhanced dramatically by ADNBP.

Aniline was brominated slowly and it was detd. by back-titrn. of excess Br with Cu+ generated from 0.02M CuSO4 in 1N HCl with 100% efficiency at c.d. .ltoreq.5 mA/cm2. The relative errors were <1% and 3.2% for detg. 430-2888 .mu.g 8-quinolinol and 305 .mu.g aniline, resp.
